One of the featured classes at Amelia Island earlier this year was the cars of Richard Petty, though I don’t recall seeing this 1986 Pontiac Aerocoupe as part of that class. The seller stresses that this car is ready for vintage racing, which leads to the question: Would you race it? And in which venue? From the seller’s description:

To the best of our knowledge: #43 Richard Petty Winston Cup NASCAR completely restored and vintage race ready. Rare 2+2 Aerocoupe Pontiac. This is a genuine Banjo Matthews race body and chassis. This is a real Winston Cup car. Built by professionals and ready to race. Prepared and legal for Midwestern Council Sports Car Club racing in GTSC class. Motor was built to race specs July 2010. Exhaust is so wicked it hurts your ears. Restored to show condition. Won at 2006 World of Wheels car show. Written permission was granted by Petty Enterprise to reuse the Petty colors and #43. Tremendous amount of original parts are on this car including the seat. Many new parts will be included with purchase. Signed by the King himself, Richard Petty.
