Those who know me and those who’ve been reading me know that I’m far from being a purist. As long as there are people out there restoring cars and keeping a few around to show how the cars came from the factory, I don’t feel much of a need to campaign against modifying and hot rodding cars. On the other hand, I sincerely hope that this 1934 Willys will not get chopped up into a race car, as the description for it suggests:

1934 Willys Coupe, “A/GAS” history car. This is a solid all Original running and driving car with original upholstery, super rare survivor, made famous by Ohio George Montgomery in drag race hisrory “Showtime”.

I mean, there can’t be many of these left that haven’t been turned into gassers. And why cut up an original example when I’m sure there’s plenty of fiberglass reproduction bodies out there to satisfy somebody’s jones for a Willys gasser? Then again, maybe I’m just turning crotchety in my old age and should let whoever bids the most on it in January do whatever they like with it.
