Conventional wisdom holds that Ford didn’t introduce an extended-cab pickup until 1974, prompted by the introduction of the Dodge Club Cab the year prior. If that’s the case, then what’s the explanation for this 1952 Ford extended-cab pickup that Hemmings Forum user dcauto recently showed us photos of? It’s certainly not a modern-day conversion, and we’re leery of any claims that this was done at the factory. We broached this topic a couple years ago with a 1965 crew-cab pickup that Jim Donnelly came across and got a wide range of answers, most of which point to one of a couple different coachbuilders. that’s the most likely explanation here, but who was the coachbuilder, and for what purpose did they build this pickup?
